Early Flight in Paris

Le Bourget in Paris, one of the first airports in Europe, was turned into an air museum years ago. An airy departure and arrival hall now features early planes hanging and standing everywhere. From a hot air balloon dating back to the 1800s to a supersonic Air France Concorde. Early planes amaze and defy logic at the same time. Rickety wood and rattan frames covered with painted canvas. Dashboards with only two tiny meters. Fly by wire…wires everywhere. They managed to stay in the air though, and made pilots legendary. Rickenbacker, Richthofen, Lindbergh…
