According to Webster’s Dictionary, “Lifestyle” is a complex of habits, attitudes, tastes, moral standards and affluence that together constitute the mode of living of an individual or group. Reading this in retrospect I believe my Great-Aunt Jasmine was an early life-stylist. She lived till a ripe age in the very center of Paris, always wore riding boots when doing her shopping, and kept a fresh bale of hay in a special closet, together with a limited edition Hermes riding saddle. She professed to ride sideways with an elaborate skirt all the way down to her ankles. I always wondered how my Uncle, who was a relatively meek member of the French Academy, managed to prevent her stabling a horse in their fifth floor apartment. My Mother confessed later in life that she was convinced Aunt Jasmine never touched a horse in all her life.
